A '''Wood Tree''' is a [[tree]] that, when harvested, rewards [[Plank|Planks]]. The higher [[gardening]] [[skill]] the player has or the more mature the tree is, the more planks will be obtained. They can be found in [[Ix]], [[Alakol]] and [[Groddle Forest]]; and can be grown by planting [[Wood Tree Bean]]s.<br />

Wood trees have different properties than other trees in Glitch. Wood trees reward more wood per harvest as they grow larger, so it is optimal to harvest wood trees only when fully grown. The trees grow in 6 sections: stump, trunk, then four "branches". Every time the tree is harvested one of these sections will disappear, and if harvested when a stump the tree will be completely cut down leaving only an empty [[patch]]. This is indicated in the action menu by the verb "Harvest and clear" in place of "Harvest".<br />

Wood trees are the thirstiest of all the trees, requiring constant watering and petting to get them to grow to their largest form. Unfortunately because of these mechanics, wood trees in public areas rarely grow larger than a stump as people harvest them as much as possible. It is common for players to harvest and clear them, either deliberately or accidentally. For this reason it is common for players to grow wood trees in their own homes, allowing them to care for and harvest the trees properly. This is an especially effective way to complete [[quest]]s and [[achievement]]s related to Wood Trees.<br />
