History
- In September 2010, the Glitch Art Department started designing the visual appearance of The Rook: Glitch Blog. Stewart Butterfield posted a link in the forums to a Rook raven flying animation.
- In October 2010, Alpha testers got a chance to test an early version of a Rook Attack in Chad Gallows (in Old Groddle). Tester Hburger took a screen recording of the events that took place: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi2ZuHm7H2w. Following the buggy and laggy test run, Stoot Barfield had this to say:
- "Buggy, slow and confusing for sure! HOWEVER, that won't always be the case. I think we're going to try making [the Rook attack] slower, sparser and more ambient ... an indication of long term decay in a region that might take days or weeks to fester before it is really annoying (and days or weeks to clear) rather than something that happens all at once." - Forum topic.
- In November 2010, the new Glitch Alpha Trailer revealed a dark side to Glitch when Rook ravens started attacking the video towards the end.
- In January 2011, a new quest, Prove Your Rook-Fighting Mettle was added, where the player is teleported to an eerie Rook's Woods to navigate over/around moving blocks in order to find a Rook Egg and destroy it.
