To clarify, the initial issue was regarding the "doubled" border - the 1 pixel wide, thin dark line that was surrounding all the tables. That's gone now. We're definitely going to keep the fat brightly colored border of each table though, I don't think anyone has suggested otherwise. Sorry for not being clearer. - [[User:Eglantine|Eglantine]] 09:50, 5 February 2011 (MST)

Initial Homepage Design

Any ideas for what the homepage should look like? I personally love the look of the Team Fortress 2 wiki. --Herp Derp 14:58, 8 January 2011 (MST)

I like the look of [1] - simple, to the point and has good navigation to all key areas. Btw, what are the Glitch colours? Hburger

- I strongly think a 'type' label in all infoboxes would be useful to show what the thing is. For example, I just mixed up a Juicy Carpaccio and thought it was a drink... Type: Food. Type: Drink. Type: powder. Type: tool. It applies universally and is simple yet effective additional info for the infobox. Edit: could be called category.

Um...so the wiki is not viewable by people unless they have an account. So why do we have instructions for getting an account on the main page? --Bingobar 00:43, 21 January 2011 (MST)

Haha, great question. It's because the wiki will be publicly viewable really soon now [2]. Herp has a formal inquiry out to Tiny Speck to make sure it's ok, but Stewart already mentioned to me that he's fine with it being public so I firmly believe it's just a matter of time till they give Herp a formal go-ahead :) - Eglantine 08:58, 21 January 2011 (MST)

P.S. Two requests for this page. (1) We need a more prominent section about how the three main ways users can communicate once they get the account (i.e.: Herp's Glitch group, Bingobar's Google Group, Johnny's IRC channel) - if anyone is willing to write that up. (2) Does anyone know how to put colors in the headers like the Team Fortress and Minecraft wiki people have? I think the Glitch colors are #f3f3f3 (background) and #0E303C (foreground)? - Eglantine 09:04, 21 January 2011 (MST)

I don't think we should include every item category for the Main Page. I'm thinking we should just include the most "feature-rich" item categories, such as powders, drinks and food; categories that people would enjoy browsing through. Then we could organize items in a more cognitive-friendly manner, putting drinks and food close together. Things such as elements, compounds, and spices are not that interesting because they are only ingredients for other items. I believe they should be removed. --Quintus 13:30, 29 January 2011 (MST)

Good point Q, I've rolled back that change. - Eglantine 15:40, 30 January 2011 (MST)

Love the updated theme and the new images. -Quintus 16:13, 1 February 2011 (MST)

Love this, and yay for public! Aldaris 17:21, 3 February 2011 (MST)

Borders vs. No borders

OK, I've protected this page and rolled back all design edits that were made today, till the community has a chance to vote on a preferred design. Let's take 5 votes on this issue and whichever screen shot gets majority vote, we'll go with:

P.S. I believe we've already decided on round corners by consensus, but if there are multiple players unhappy with the round corners I'm willing to revisit this issue.

I'll go with no borders and maybe fix the right side where the boxes gets too close to the scrollbar.

- Ixirim 22:30, 4 February 2011 (MST)

i slightly prefer without the borders but the borders are fine and i don't like that someone unilaterally changed them. i like the rounded corners. i think if there are any borders, the border on the blue section could be slightly lighter. the idea of someone coming in and deciding to unilaterally redesign the main page of a wiki with their first edit is kinda flabbergasting to me. --- - - Hobvias 22:36, 4 February 2011 (MST)

Sorry about that. First time using a wiki. Still grasping basic wiki etiquette. Wont do that again :D.

- Ixirim 22:41, 4 February 2011 (MST)

+1 no borders, +1 rounded corners - Ping 22:53, 4 February 2011 (MST)

Ixirim, NP. That's 3 votes for no borders (Ixirim, Ping, Hobvias), so no need to wait for opinions 4 and 5 imho. Borders are going away stat :) - Eglantine 23:12, 4 February 2011 (MST)

I like the colourful borders and rounded corners, I think it looks smooth. Aniloverl 08:19, 5 February 2011 (MST)

I prefer with borders, but I think both look good. Rounded corners are a must. Herp Derp 08:40, 5 February 2011 (MST)
