Who should get a wiki account
This wiki is publicly readable, so the only thing you need an account for is to edit the pages. However, we have found that edits made by people who have never played the game, are often factually incorrect. Thus, please only sign up if you are an alpha tester on the official Glitch site. But if you love playing Glitch, thinking about strategy, and helping other Glitchzens, you're welcome to join us!
How to get a wiki account
Here's what to do:
- First, create an account by clicking on this red link: Signup. We request that you select a username that matches your Glitch username, if available.
- Next, create a user page by following the instructions on Help:UserProfile, so you can add a link to your Glitch user profile which will demonstrate that you are in fact a tester.
Once you've joined
- If you're new to wiki editing, you may want to quickly skim the Help page.
- Keep an eye on what everyone else is doing by looking at the Recent Changes page every time you sign in.
- In particular, pages under active debate can be monitored by searching the above page for Namespace: Talk, i.e. [1]
- For more in-depth discussions, we use the Google Group for easy email communication (has less annoying formatting, plus, we can send files). NOTE: some people feel overwhelmed by the emails if an active discussion takes place; you may want to sign up for daily digest, at least initially, if you don't wish to be participating actively in the threads. Also, if you're concerned about privacy, one idea is to create a disposable email address that forwards to your real address - a few of us here do this.
- To discuss issues of organization, see the conversation we're having on the Communications page.
- We also have an IRC chat channel to communicate on.
- To manage screenshots, we can use this file sharing page: glitchwiki.4shared.com and work from the images there to fill in info about achievements, quests, recipes and streets etc.. Please feel free to add any screencaps you think might help, and delete any that we've already got info for. I've given everyone mod privileges to rename, delete, move etc.. The account is public, so please don't share the link with anyone outside the here or the alpha site.
