Once you have learned the skill Animal Husbandry, you can use chickens to incubate seasoned eggs. It only takes a minute or two for a chicken to incubate an egg, at which time a baby animal will appear in your inventory. If you change locations while the chicken is incubating the egg, it will disappear.
