From what we can tell, there is a finite amount of places where ghosts “spawn” around the world. Each player is randomly assigned 7 places for the ghosts to spawn: a ‘template’ if you will. So, if you check places just because your buddies have said they’ve seen ghosts there, you might not find any, and there’s no point waiting around, because that ghost wasn’t on your pre-determined template.
